Five SAISD Campuses Honored as Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools

San Angelo ISD announces with celebration the selection of five SAISD campuses as Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) National Showcase Schools for the 2020-2021 school year. Bradford Elementary, Fannin Elementary, Goliad Elementary, Holiman Elementary and Lake View High School were chosen for the national honor.

The CKH National Showcase School award recognizes campuses that go above and beyond in building a safe and welcoming environment where students are relationally connected and eager to learn. CKH National Showcase Schools are selected annually by the Flippen Group through a process that includes measuring key performance indicators, gathering campus data and surveying staff and students.

Only 325 campuses were selected for the honor nationally. Lake View High School was one of only 8 high schools selected in Texas.  SAISD commends the committed leadership of the five campuses selected for the honor including Principals Zach Ramirez (Lake View High School), Bertha Carrasco (Bradford Elementary), Cathy Humble (Fannin Elementary), Shannon Klepac (Goliad Elementary) and Ginger Luther (Holiman Elementary).

“We are excited that we were named a CKH National Showcase School, which demonstrates how our school community is strong and centered around relationship building. Everyone involved is dedicated to making connections and striving to create an environment each day that is welcoming and students have a positive start to the day! As the Principal of Lake View school I am proud of this accomplishment and look forward to future success at Lake View,” said Principal Zach Ramirez.

SAISD is committed to building safe and welcoming environments, relationship-driven campus cultures, student connectedness, and processes focused on social-emotional wellbeing at our campuses. These five CKH National Showcase schools excel in these areas, and students and staff authentically connect resulting in the improved wellbeing of the whole child.

“I am proud to work in a district that is committed to a focus on the ‘whole child.’ These five campuses were some of the first to receive the Capturing Kids’ Hearts professional learning experience in SAISD. The campus leadership teams have been integral in embedding these practices into the school climate and culture in order to elicit this level of recognition,” said SAISD Director of Social-Emotional Learning Lindy Lyles. “I look forward to the continued partnership and the district-wide focus on relationships as the core of our mission to develop future-ready graduates.”
